25 km North-East from Gaborone,
the capital city of Botswana, there is a small village in the
Kgatleng District named Modipane, this is where we find the home
of THEBE BOERBOELS, a farm we use to breed the African boerboel. My love for animals goes as far
back as childhood. At only 23 I already had a few cattle and horses;
back in 1999 I brought home a beautiful puppy that
we fondly knew as CHICHI.
A few weeks later I brought home another puppy, a male named Bruno. My life was never the same again
afterwards. In the morning I could hardly recognize my yard as
almost everything was misplaced and in the end I succumbed to
the notion that I will never be a gardener, especially with the
two pups around. When Bruno died in a freaky accident in 2000 I was devastated. My love for animals became even more intense and I aspired to accomplish a childhood dream,
that of becoming a reputable breeder of boerboels. But why boerboels? My reason is simple
- I basically needed a dog that could be a protector and a friend
and within a boerboel we have all of this and more.
I then started learning more about the breed, visited few breeders in South Africa just to get
up close and personal with the dog and from just there, I never looked back.
My primary obligation is to produce the best pedigree of the real African giant
- the BOERBOEL.
